Liberty

If we plan to protect liberty, we must first understand it.  Conservatives use the Republican platform as the yardstick against which they measure the performance of elected officials.  Regarding liberty, the Indiana GOP wrote in its 2018 Core Beliefs, "The liberties of every American citizen, as guaranteed by the U.S. and Indiana Constitutions and Bill of Rights, must be protected from erosion by governments at every level. We believe freedom is God’s gift to the human race, and we should not only work to preserve individual freedom in our own nation, but we also have a responsibility to encourage such freedoms – to men and women of all races and circumstance – wherever they may reside."
